Cabinet Painters

01 - Protecting your home

Our cabinet painters begin this process by protecting the floor and countertops with durable paper. We then mask walls, backsplash, ceilings, and everything else with plastic or paper masking creating clean paint lines and preventing overspray. Dust is always a concern when renovating which is why we take every measure to protect your home from it. When sanding or spraying we seal the area from floor to ceiling with plastic. We use power sanders that are hooked up to a HEPA vacuum system, as well as a HEPA air purifier to clean any dust floating in the air. We regularly vacuum the workspace to further eliminate dust.

02 - Painting Preparation

We first remove and label all of the doors, drawers, and hardware, and place the hardware in a safe place so it goes back the way we took it off. We then thoroughly clean all surfaces with an abrasive cleaning pad so that all surfaces are extremely clean before painting ensuring maximum adhesion of paint to the substrate. Next we inspect the cabinets with a bright light and patch, and sand imperfections.

03 - Priming Cabinets

Priming is a very important step in the cabinet painting process as it is what creates the bond between the cabinets and the paint. Blue Valley Painting uses the highest quality primers made specifically for painting cabinets to maximize adhesion. In many cases we also use a high build cabinet primer after our bonding primer and sand thoroughly to remove the appearance of wood grain.

04 - Cabinet Painting

Our cabinet painters always do a very detailed clean of the cabinets and the work area to remove all dust after sanding which helps us achieve a much smoother finish without imperfections. Our cabinet painters use the highest quality paints designed specifically for cabinet painting. We sand and clean between coats to ensure a glass like finish.

05 - Clean up

Once the painting is complete we reinstall all the doors, drawers, and hardware. We then begin our cleanup removing all paper and plastic masking and giving the area a final vacuum and wipe down. We then reinstall switch plates and put back anything else that may be out of place.

06 - Follow Up

After the work is completed we will go over everything to make sure you are happy with the work. Mark the owner will follow up with you after completion to make sure we didn’t miss anything and that you are still happy with everything we painted for you.
